Books & Music That Inspired Me This Month

Updated: Mar 2

This month, music spoke to me in a way that felt deeply personal. Two songs were on repeat for me: "I Love You, I'm Sorry" by Gracie Abrams and "July" by Noah Cyrus, but it was July that really hit differently.

Every lyric in that song felt like it was telling my story. But these lines? They cut the deepest:

"I've been holding my breath, I've been counting to ten over something you said

I've been holding back tears while you're throwing back beers, I'm alone in bed

I've done a lot of things wrong, loving you being one but I can't move on

You know I... I.. I'm afraid of change

Guess that's w..hy we stay the same

You remind me every day I'm not enough, but I still stayed

If you want to leave, then tell me to leave and baby I'll go."

Hearing those words, I realized just how much I had put up with in the name of love, how I stayed in situations that hurt me more than they healed me. I didn't want to admit it before, but listening to July made me sit with the truth. It made me acknowledge my own patterns, my fears, and, most importantly, my growth.

This month, the feeling that connected me to music was acceptance ; of the past, of my choices, and of the fact that sometimes walking away is the kindest thing you can do for yourself.

No book stood out to me this month, but this song alone felt like a chapter I needed to read.

What about you? What songs or books resonated with this month? Leave a comment. I'd love to hear what spoke to you.
